Hi, My name is Brad. Those of you who have followed some of my articles and blog posts, or on my Twitter account... know that I've had a heck of a time with my cholesterol levels. Two years ago my cholesterol was 278 - which is pretty high. Normal is 200 or less.
But hey, I have an excuse ... I have a "family history" of it on my mother's side. :-)
Drugs First - NO WAY!
My doctor quickly wanted to put me on a prescription statin drug when I got my test results. I said no way!... "let me try to do something natural first." He tried to use some scare tactics (which actually did get me worried)... But, I stuck to my plan of "nature first" because I already saw the horrible side-effects statin drugs had on my mom (muscle and joint pain, memory loss, fatigue, etc.).
Diet & Exercise - It Worked, Almost...
That day I went home and did a lot of research online about life-style changes, different diets and so forth. I ended up going with the modified Paleolithic Diet. Basically, it's like eating similar to our cave-man ancestor diet.
I tried not to eat any packaged foods basically. Not all the time, but the majority of the time. Lots of vegetables of course.
Also, I started exercising more often... walking 30 minutes, 3-4x a week. Actually, I was exercising before, just not consistently. But now, I'm on a mission to prove my doctor wrong! Results After 3 Months: Cholesterol = 256
Back To Drugs, Unfortunately...
I couldn't fight my doc anymore and at this point, he put me on a prescription statin drug at 40 mgs daily. I felt fine the first 3-4 weeks... but then, I started to feel really weak when exercising and because of this, I exercised LESS (not a good move).
I had other side-effects (memory problems, feeling tired, not happy, etc.). But, I put up with it. I guess it's part of getting older, -------right?... Anyway, it was time for another blood test. Results After 2 Months: Cholesterol = 237
MORE Drugs, NO WAY!....
Well, 41 total point drop is a lot, but it's still no where near 200. We were both surprised that the drug didn't lower levels even more. So, my doctor wanted to increase the dose to 80 mgs daily and I said NO WAY!!!
I already feel like "junk", this isn't worth it. I'm not enjoying life anymore. Everything was slowly getting worse, especially my mood and even my libido.
I actually started to FEEL OLD! =(((
Nature's Secret Cholesterol Killer
After a couple weeks of researching Google, looking on forums and asking around, it seems that an all natural ingredient called Red Yeast Rice works similar to these prescription drugs, but without the typical side-effects. This was great news!...
Make sure that any red yeast rice you consume has the potentially toxic by-product “citrinin” REMOVED from the fermentation process. And you want to ONLY use the “extract” form of red yeast rice.
Anyway I started using it and added in some fish oil as well. Results After 2 Months: Cholesterol = 228
Still not close to 200, but getting closer and no real negative effects.
More Research, More Ingredients - I've Almost Cracked The Code!
I was slowly turning into a mad scientist, wanting to find an all natural solution and more so, to prove my doctor wrong! Yeah, it's petty... but, the end result is better health, no drugs or side-effects.
I did a lot more research and found about half a dozen scientifically proven ingredients that help improve cholesterol levels. So, I also started taking:
I'm getting closer... I feel like I'm about to crack a secret code. I'm really excited at this point. Heck, maybe Oprah will interview me one day or even better, I'll be on the Dr. Oz Show!
.... hehe... okay, well... I'm kinda kidding... but that would be cool, right?...
The Perfect Formula Already Exists - DANG IT!!! =(
Well, just when I thought I was about to discover a miracle formula, I saw a Television interview with Dr. Sam Robbins about cholesterol myths, heart disease, the causes and solutions.
It was a fascinating interview, he really knew his stuff and yet, kept the information simple to understand.
But anyway, as it turns out he already HAS this "Perfect Formula" in a product called CholesLo. It has all the ingredients that I mentioned and found during my own research, plus lots of other good ones.
Here are some highlights about CholesLo:
CholesLo worked for me because the last check up my cholesterol levels were 197 and my doctor was finally happy - even though he's still skeptical.
While you can spend the next two weeks or even just the next two hours reading and researching, at some point you are going to have to make a decision. It is one that could change your life and should not be taken lightly, but you do NOT want to be one of those people who sit on the fence, thinking about doing something. No more excuses about not being able to do it.
Red Yeast Rice does work. But it should NOT be used alone, because it works better with a few other key ingredients (synergy!).
Think about it. Just like you don’t eat only broccoli for best health, you don’t want to use only one herb or nutrient either.
What you should do next is Click HERE and give CholesLo® a try. Watch their free video and and read all the Reviews too… Whatever you do, don’t take prescription drugs because long-term negative effects and habit forming side-effects is NOT worth it.
Thanks for reading my blog post. I hope it has inspired you to take action and best of luck with Lowering your Cholesterol
